By the time I am writing this blog post it has been more than six months already since the begging of this years health crisis which rapidly spread across the entire globe. As far as my own perception of this goes, I have been going back and forth between being scared to being reluctant, while still staying compliant with the measures that have been imposed by authorities. According to my own understanding, I think that due to those very challenging situations that 2020 has brought us all into, there are two main areas in which people might be affected by this: health and economics. Of course, on top of it all, and from a holistic point of view, the two areas might affect one another or might be both affected by the events of the current year. This can be very stressful and while I do believe that those stresses can manifest in relationship to other problems, such as other health issues, or other personal issues that people might be going through, it is still an opportunity inside those challenges to perhaps reevaluate our own understanding of well being and health (two very important areas that reflect the challenges of this year as I see them: economics and health).
As we all adapt to a new normal, which is constantly changing right now, from my own point of view, this years events have also brought us not only challenges, but also opportunities for slowing things down and reevaluating our current states of well being and overall health. No matter how we choose to name it, or whether we believe it all to be true or not, there are still tremendous opportunities for learning, healing and growth that arise from this past years events. I have personally felt affected by those measures taken for public safety, in terms of economics I would tend to say at first, since my income has been dropping down in the months following the announcement of the global health crisis. Many companies have been affected as well as many industries have been affected by the changes that had to be made to the best of our ability in order to stay safe and healthy, therefore, this has been my own case, as the company that I have been working at since the summer of 2019 has been affected deeply by those changes. Whether it was also bad management in times of crisis or just a result of this years events, the company collapsed at the end of the summer/begging of autumn and we all, as employees, found ourselves in the tough situation of being drawn into the midst of uncertainty.
I have to say that my beliefs are that in those kinds of economic struggles, ones health can also be affected as a result of rising levels of stress, daily worries and our own inner resistance towards change, which might be even stronger in times of uncertainty, when all that we want and need is to find something familiar to marinate ourselves into. When I was writing the series of blog posts on sleep last month I was not thinking that I could ever get through such challenges with sleep as I have been during this month. But, while it does take time to get myself back into my healthy sleeping patterns, I have decided to give myself time, to do everything that I can to make myself feel safe and most importantly to be super patient with myself and with this process. With meditation and yoga practices I have been able to see small but constant improvements. I am still in the middle of this process right now, but I am confident that with time and practice, I will be able to recover my healthy sleeping patterns as well as be able to relax and let go of what does not serve me anymore in order to be able to enjoy the present moments and live life to its fullest in a healthy, balanced way and of course, on a day to day basis.
As a result of my own experience with stressful situations from the last couple of months, from income drop downs to having to make drastic changes, living in uncertainty and perhaps the hardest of all, going through very challenging sleepless nights, I have decided to share my thoughts on this process as well as what I have found to be very helpful for myself during this time, in a few blog posts which will get into all important areas of overall well being and health such as food, movement, and of course maintaining a positive mindset. We probably all go through some challenging situations at some point in our lives, so the more we are able to learn from them and get stronger as we arrive to the other side of the challenge, I would say that we have definitely done our best. Sometimes a beautiful song or a compliment might brighten up our days and some other times just a few moments of surrendering in stillness to the divine can be all that we need in order to be able to tap back into our inner greatness and get back into a state of well being, divine healing and flow. Therefore stay tuned for the next chapters of this stress healing series of blog post, coming up in the following weeks. Until then, stay patient, stay healthy and always stay true to yourself!
