Spicy Almond Hummus

Today is all about delicious and nutritious raw vegan food and therefore I am going to share with you a new hummus recipe, that I have just tried out recently. I have to say that I really love hummus, the original recipe (with chickpeas and tahini), as well as all kinds of variations on that theme. This is also why I have thought that I could also make an almond based hummus which would be 100 % raw vegan, super easy to prepare as well as super healthy and nutritious. I have also added a little bit of spice to make things even better and I have to tell you the final result was pretty awesome, tasty and super good looking too. Of course, as always, feel free to improvise and add your own favorite spices or even substitute almonds for any other sort of nuts or seeds that you just love and adore.

For this weeks amazing and delicious hummus recipe, we are going to need the following ingredients:

1 cup soaked almonds

juice of one lemon

3-4 tbsp nutritional yeast flakes

a few cloves of garlic, depending on how spicy you want it to be

a few small pieces of ginger, depending as well on your own preferences.

We place all the ingredients in a blender of choice and add around 1/2 cup of water, depending as well on your desired consistency, I like mine to be thicker so I just added enough water to cover all the ingredients, and then blend until getting that desired consistency, mine was a bit chunkier and soft at the same time, so I just loved how it all turned out. And it is very filling and satiating too.

When the hummus is ready, we can take it out of the blender and place it into a nice looking bowl or jar of choice, sprinkle some more nutritional yeast flakes on top of it. I have also used a few bell pepper slices and almonds to decorate my hummus before serving it. I have to tell you now, I have really been enjoying both the texture, a little bit different that the usual one for my spreads and stuff like that, and the taste. It is just divine!
