Moving our bodies is key to our own health and wellbeing in general. Sure, we might all know this, but sometimes we might still struggle with getting the amount of movement that our bodies need on a day to day basis. I have to admit, my own practice has been constantly evolving and changing over the years, I also had times when I was obsessed with getting my daily exercise and at the same time, I have also gone through times when I found it difficult to even get out with my dog for a walk. But hopefully I did find creative ways, over time and through trail and error, to manage my daily movement goals, be there for myself and listen to my own body and just have faith that I am doing the right type of movement and that it is ok to not only have a routine but also to try new things from time to time.

For example for the last 6 months I have been doing stretching, pilates and yoga alternatives, and not just by myself. I found a really nice place 7 minutes away from my home and I go there a few times per week. I also alternate with home practices and I have found this to be what really works for me right now. Also this week I tried something new by joining barre fitness classes and it was actually great. Still it does not always have to be always going to the gym or yoga, stretching, or pilates. This is simply what works wonderfully for me and what works for me at this stage of my life in time and space. I have more diversity and I am enjoying my practices more, then just simply doing just yoga, what actually worked for me before. We have to be open to listen to our bodies and be open for change. Routines are just as important as flexibility in both mind and body are. In order to find out what truly resonates, just try what is calling for you and see how it goes.

Also, very important, this should not be something that you feel pressured to do or that you do just because it is trending right now or all of your friends are doing it. It is ok to have your own preferences and also to play, movement used to be so natural for our bodies and incorporated into our daily living, but sure over the ages and throughout our modern lives things have changed significantly. Still, bringing a sense of playfulness and mindfulness into our practices is under our own control and it is really helpful and supporting when we approach things from this perspective. Therefore, just stay open, have faith and explore movement practices along the way towards finding your own unique way of moving your amazing body that truly resonates with you and that you truly resonate with at the same time. Enjoy the movement!
