Nutritional Balance

This week I am all about spring and new begging as I am soon starting a new job, new project a new chapter of my life. New beginnings for me mean pretty much a cocktail of a few important things: the excitement or enthusiasm component, which when you are up and down with your serotonin levels is pretty helpful for an overall boost, a component of anxiety, or anxiousness which for me is correlated with performing well and being a good worker so to speak and of course matter of adaptability, am I going to fit in work wise and socially wise into my new work space.

What I find extremely useful in those cases is the healthy balanced lifestyle approach, which involves not only nutrition and movement, mind and body work, but also a spiritual, lets call it, part which is in other words perhaps our inner guide that can bring us a sense of calm, peace and a feeling of right timing and right environment, which encompasses pretty much what we are all striving for: a sense of personal fulfilment, loving care and kindness, and a way of doing it all in a healthy balanced way so that we can be truly and fully happy with ourselves and with exactly where we are at this point in our lives, while still continuously growing, evolving and constantly healing.

When it comes to the nutritional component of a healthy balanced living, there a lot of options out there, maybe its not about right or wrong, but more about the context of making some sort of an estimation of on element of the bigger picture. Maybe we could perhaps put it better into perspective: is this relevant for me personally or not, do I believe in this, or would believing in this ingredient / component / diet / lifestyle bring me a benefit or would cost me something that is more meaningful to me?. In a supersaturated world of constantly being bombarded with “the best and the rest” “magic bullets” and other marketing strategies, its best to keep our heads high and stay aware of our own lifestyle and our own choice that are not necessarily publicly validated or promoted, but that reflect our own inner ecosystems needs, what our bodies needs and that most importantly reflect our uniqueness and individuality.

As far as I have personally noticed, there are so many professionals in the nutrition field who praise, at least in theory, for an individualised approach, but instead all that they do in practice and with the diets that they give to patients with unique profiles, is give them that is trendy at the moment and even expect pretty much everyone to have the same results, even though we are all so unique and so different. Sure, there are, just like in any other field or domain, rules and patterns that work by default in nutrition and dietetics as well and I am not talking about those general rules, but about specific settings in which patients are entitled to be treated individually and this mass protocol is still recommended. There is still a long way to go until we are going to reach the real personalised nutritional, this is just my humble opinion as a nutrition student, and raw vegan / vegan (I am a combo yes and I love it ) for more that 10 years now, so its just my own personal take on the matter with I found would be useful to share with you on this beautiful spring day.

Just to cheer things up a little bit I decided to share this super simple fruit salad with you at the end of this post. Its just a mix of fruits, as always feel free to improvise, after all that is my own unique way of doing and promoting things here at imprawvise is feel free to mix the fruits with some nuts, seeds, cinnamon, lemon juice, and so on and so forth, whatever makes you happy today.

The story behind this salad and the real reason why I am sharing it with you today, as a part of this post on nutritional balance is that, during my stay at home, relaxing times, for the last couple of days, I was reminded spontaneously of this amazing idea of intuitive eating. It is a fascinating concept, a little hard to grasp for my analytical mind, I have to confess, but which I found myself embracing from time to time. What I mean by that, is that just like sometimes you might be trying to sort out something in your head by compulsively thinking about it, and then you relax and out of nowhere so to speak the solution is there, just like that I have moments when I get a feeling of “I don’t even know if I want to eat / what I want to eat”, which even if they might also be remanences of my past struggle with eating disorders, anorexia to be more specific, it is also a call for letting the mind to relax, and allowing the body to respond, finding myself then inspired to either try to eat something super simple and basic or even experiment with a new recipe or combo of ingredients.

Therefore, no matter where you found yourself today on the spectrum of working on or towards nutritional balance and wellbeing in all life areas, just be gentle with yourself, take a deep breath and trust that you are in fact doing your best, and spiritually speaking as I always like to emphasise, and to conclude todays post in a loving positive spiritual note: we are always guided and take care of, on a day to day basis. Just have faith!
