Homeostasis is our body’s amazing ability to maintain its own balance and body physiological parameters in a normal and functional range. As we all know there are established ranges for pretty much a lot if not all of the humans body functioning processes, therefore there is a state of balance that means it all functions properly and in great synchronicity with one another as parts, if we talk about organs or systems of organs as related to the human body. When our body fall our off this homeostatic state things might get not just bad, but also a state of disease or inflammation can be triggered easily and many times in actually does get triggered making us feel miserable and sick. As a part that is automatically regulated by our nervous system, and by involving multiple organ systems, staying or getting into homeostasis is our body’s natural ability, but just like detox pathways, sometimes, too much of a good or a bad thing can make us feel like things are no longer as they used to be.
As we grow older we might notice changes to our bodies and our bodies capabilities, sometimes the changes are sudden and sometimes they just take a lot of time to actually be noticeable. But still, with time we do change and our bodies change as well. There is no need for shaming and blaming in that, and there are a lot of corrections, so to speak, that our amazing bodies can easily do in order to get us back into a thriving mode. Still, as we push our bodies to the limit more and more often, our bodies are going to not be able to jump back as easily and as effectively into a balanced state as they used to be, it might be s sight of burnout, metabolic inflexibility as well as aging, or disease. Aging is something that happens naturally and things might get from some point of view harder or more complicated but we can still age mindfully and beautifully by simply taking great care or our bodies, minds and souls. And for that amazing care, we do have a lot of resources, here on the blog, for ideas that can help you survive and thrive, by taking care of nutrition, movement and spiritual life.
So many times, it might be a cliche to just say that balance and a state of peace of both mind and body are just the way to go, but the truth is that it does work, it is pretty much like the idea of homeostasis, and even further, I like to think of this as involving not just bodily functions but also a state of balance that manifests by including the mind, body and the soul. As human beings we do have a physical existence, but we also have a mental existence, and our own mental health is just as important, we do have to place an equal focus on both, and of course, last but not least, have a some sort of a spiritual life, a higher purpose, is also contributing to our overall well-being and state of happiness and consciousness. Sometimes I notice that I might be going off the path that I set myself onto and I catch myself being very judgemental with myself, and then I realise that this is just not working, we have to be kind to ourselves in order to be able to truly listen to what our bodies, or souls have to say to us. A little bit of inner guidance is always welcome, and as a matter of fact, by living in our truth we are truly open and fully living in our own path.
Sometimes, even when things seem like they are falling our of place and all over the place, it might just be a great idea to take a break, take a deep breath and embrace a new perspective: what if its a new begging, what if it will all make sense in the end, and what if things are actually falling into a better place by simply rearranging themselves. I will leave you with this though to contemplate on, mindfully and gently.
