Yoga Flow and Glow

Well, today is all about movement and flow. My experiment for the month is going pretty well so far, posting something new each day, be it a shorter or a longer post, its a great experience for myself to get to be not only creative but also a bit spontaneous, and even though I have already chosen some of the subjects that I would like to address in the posts this month, I decided to also leave room for improvisation. So here we go, let’s see what are my thoughts today on movement and flow. I would personally say, that the type of movement that works best and that I have already been doing on a constant basis over the last 7 – 8 years is of course, as you might already know, yoga! Then there is also stretching and pilates. Of course there are a lot of common elements in between those practices, but simply moving your body throughout the entire day, so simple things like walks and so on and so forth are also great for over all health. I find yoga to be particularly well suited for calming my already anxious nervous system, but also, along with pilates and stretching, as a wonderful way to move my body consciously and mindfully. Yum!

Yoga simply means “union with the divine”, of course there are many interpretations to that, but, for me personally it just represents a conscious choice of taking some time and space for myself, in order to be truly and fully present with myself, and experience being not only present in my mind, but also in my body. Uniting mind, body, and of course on a next level, soul, is a great way to not only start ones day but also to let go of the day thus far, or relax and replenish, restore by the end of the day, if we decide what we would like to do this in the afternoon for example. In the first couple of years, I was very strict with my morning practice, and that was indeed very helpful at the time, but afterward, in the last couple of years especially, I have slowly and gradually became more flexible (not just in my body, but also as a mindset) and I did started to notice that there are many and different benefits that come from practice depending on the time of the day when we decide to enjoy this time for ourselves. Now I just like to give myself a choice depending on how I feel on a particular day, and then according to that I decide when I would best like my practice to take place. So far is going really great so I strongly encourage you to give it a try (movement in general, whichever way, form or time of the day suits you best) and just go with the flow.
