Colourful Berries Smoothie Mix

Along with green smoothies, which I absolutely love and adore, the next favorite thing on my list when it comes to amazing smoothies are all kind of berries smoothie combos. Berries are just so cute, delicious and nutritious, filled with antioxidants and all the good stuff. They are also sweet and in season now that it’s summer, but I also enjoy getting frozen varieties especially when it comes to smoothies, as it simply doesn’t affect the taste or the texture of the smoothies. But, when I just want to feel the summer vibes, I chose the fresh varieties as they are so filled with color, have an awesome texture and just make me feel like home. I remember when I used to go to the beach in the summer and eat seasonal fruits and just lay there in the sun, reading a good book, simply feels like home, like summer and like holiday season. Yum!

Therefore here are the ingredients that we are going to need in other to make our super delicious and nutritious berries mix smoothie:

mixed berries ( I used frozen, a mix of strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, blackberries ) – about 2 cups

1 / 2 cup cashews ( soaked for about an hour in advance to make them softer and creamier )

a few dates for the sweetness ( but not absolutely necessary, simple because the berries themselves are quite sweet )

2 – 3 tbsp of hemp seeds for an added protein boost, as well as healthy fats ( along with the cashews, also a great source of healthy fats and vegan protein )

1 cup of water, more or less, if necessary in order to get the desired texture.

We blend all the ingredients together until we get a smooth and creamy consistency and then, of course we can serve it right away, or keep it in the fridge for about 48 hours. We can also spice it up a bit with some cinnamon, lemon peel or any other spices of choice. And if we want to increase the healthy fats intake we can also add some coconut oil, coconut butter or any other nut butter of choice, which is going to give it a little boost of plant protein as well as healthy fats. For some omega 3 we can also add flax seeds to the mix, also great source of fibre. Feel free to adjust accordingly in order to feel satisfied and nourished with this mix.
