Best Green Smoothie Ever

I just absolutely love and adore green smoothies, of course they are great for health reasons, but, for me, it’s not just that. Ever since I first turned vegan and then raw vegan, and even though now I am more flexible, as well as more conscious in the choices that I make in order to make sure that those choices really serve my best interest above all, the thing is, that for me, personally, it was always about the taste and how good it actually makes me feel, and, the textures as well. I just love the colourful vibrations that the raw vegan lifestyle brings and all the amazing options that are constantly being brought to the market, it makes me feel so good that I have chosen to embrace this lifestyle.

Of course, its not always, easy, so that is the main reason why for seasonal reasons, and for social reasons, I have consciously decided to be more flexible in certain situations, in the last 2 – 3 years, at the core and probably 95 % of the time I still embrace the raw vegan / vegan lifestyle fully, as it fits me the best, while with the remains 5 % I like to stay flexible still within the vegan / vegetarian lifestyle. Its good to know what works best for you as an individual, test it and see how it goes, and especially in the beginnings of implementing change be it for health reasons or any other reasons, its also good to just be kind and gentle with yourself along the way, and simply make it fun, make it adorable, make it enjoyable, because that is, after all, what is going to be sustainable in the long run.

Today I decided to try out a new combo of super tasty, delicious and nutritious greens and explore a little bit. I know I have written here on the blog for many times that I absolutely love and adore coconuts and they are probably my all time favorite food, but today, I am going to share another favorite food of mine, which unfortunately I do not eat so often, but I also absolutely love and adore and that is: grapefruits. Of course, we usually use some fruit from the citrus family in most of the green smoothie recipes so it makes perfect sense. Another thing that I have experimented with today is adding basil to my green smoothie, and I have to tell you this combo, grapefruit and basil, along with the other ingredients is absolutely divine.

Therefore, here are the ingredients that we are going to need in order to make our super delicious and nutritious green smoothie:

1 big avocado

the juice from 2 grapefruits

1 handful of baby spinach

a few fresh basil leaves

optional: hemp seeds (for some protein boost)

2 medium cucumbers (peeled)

We use a blender to mix all the ingredients together and blend them until we get a smooth and creamy consistency, I have also added some water as well, but that depends on your own preferences for the thickness of your smoothie. Most probably if you use the same ratios for the ingredients you are going to want to add at least 1/2 cup to maybe even 1 cup of fresh water to the blend. When done, it can be served right away, or kept in the fridge for about 24-48 hours. Ideally, you should still keep in mind that the sooner, the better is the way to go here, both in terms of taste as well as texture.

Feel free to share this delicious recipe with your lovely friends and family members and enjoy getting healthy together. Making healthy and fulfilling choices on a day to day basis is a habit just like any other habit and it requires repetition in order to became second nature, but as soon as our bodies and our minds get used to the new habit, then everything unfolds naturally, in a healthy, balanced way. I truly believe that when we take care of our bodies and nourish ourselves with the most nutritious and fulfilling plant based foods available to us at all times, then we are really able to reach our full potential and live life to its fullest.
